NATIVE HEALTH’s Tribal Home Visiting Program is offering four VIRTUAL parenting classes from January 21 through January 24. Each session will be a 2-hour, fast-track class that will be held virtually in the comfort of your own home. Participants can enroll voluntarily or if needing to meet a court order requirement for a Parenting Class.

Positive Indian Parenting is designed to meet the needs of Native and Non-native parents, relatives, caregivers, foster parents, and others who strive to be more positive in their approach to parenting. The Curriculum was created by the National Indian Child Welfare Association (NICWA) and explores the values, and strengths of historical practices of parenting skills.

Topics Covered Include:

  • Tuesday, January 21: Traditional Parenting and Lessons of the Storyteller.
  • Wednesday, January 22: Lessons of the Cradleboard and Harmony in Child Rearing.
  • Thursday, January 23: Traditional Behavior Management and Lessons from Mother Earth.
  • Friday, January 24: Praise in Traditional Parenting and Choices in Parenting.

Requirements:

  • Must reside within Maricopa County and attend all days of class from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. to receive a Certificate of Completion
  • Participants must register individually
  • Packets must be picked up prior to class start date, or other arrangements can be made
